I was thinking it wasn't too bad until it got to the lawnmower.

That video is a heluvan argument for the return of censorship.  Is unbridled speech worth this?

I told you so!

when did this become ok?

I expect more under the leadership of his Oliness

Unless you mean that you expect more of the same, then I'd venture you must be drinking.  The Obama reign will do NOTHING to address this kind of hatred.  After all, it only affects "sweeties."

More of the same

Must be the pain meds.

Until you see them together like this, these horrible images roll off of you.  Especially for people like me who don't read GQ and those BS publications, so you never see most of them.

It's definitely time to Burn It Down and start Right Now!

My wife used to subscribe to W. When a got a glimpse of the whorish crap in there, I suggested she drop her subscription and eventually, she did. It was horrifying to see women participating in the sexism against Hillary but they did. Women's groups were silent. It was disgusting.

which is really sad! I get W. and a few other mags (Wired, Bon Appetit, New York) as a membership gift.

W pose

it became unnoticeable.

Even though we know how bad misogyny is it takes so many images put together to hit you with it's total horror.

This must stop. But how can it stop when so many women participate? How can it stop when women allow themselves to be objectified? How can it stop when women would rather fight in the corner of the patriarchy than for women's rights?

I loathe the men that do this to us. I loathe every member of the patriarchy with all my soul. But women who are a part of this are so repulsive to me that I cannot tolerate the sight or sound of them.

I keep seeing a portion of a rap video I was unfortunate enough to view accidentally. The singer took a credit card and ran it between the buttocks of one of the women in the video. I could not believe what I had seen. It was not just that he had done something so disgusting, it was that she would allow anyone to do that to her. Has she no sense of pride at all?

I have more respect for prostitutes standing on a street corner than for the high-priced models that are the face of these appalling and pornographic advertisements. Both do it for money. At least the prostitute is honest about what she does.

Totally agree with you on these points kenoshamarge.   I think this has to start with Parents and how they raise and teach their daughters - and sons!

whas it a JayZ or Ludacris video?

Both the singer and the woman were AA I think. To tell you the truth I was so appalled I just got the hell out of Dodge as fast as I could.

I don't know why that particular image has burnt itself into my brain. I've seen worse. But that one, just so casual and so contemptuous offended me worse than anything else I've seen. I think we all have a moment when something slaps us between the eyes and tells us that these people really do not like women.

That moment is a wake-up call for any of us that did not understand that it must be an all out war against the misogyny and the misogynists.

That must include those that would deny basic civil rights to our brothers and sisters in the LBGT Community.

When you see these pieces of sexism randomly interspersed with other examples of advertising garbage the totality of what's happening doesn't register.  It takes something like this video to bring home to people how widespread and critical the problem is.

I know one way to light a match for the burning-down process.  When I see one of these ads in future I'm going to write the company that spawned it, tell them I will no longer buy their products and explain why.  That's about the only leverage we have.  Might as well exercise it.

Come to think of it, I believe I'll start with Dolce and Gabbana right now.

Hmmm...There's good news and bad news.  First the good:  We are not the first to take exception to D & G's advertising.  From Wikipedia:

"Dolce & Gabbana was publicly criticized by Britain's advertising watchdog Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) in January 2007, for an advertising campaign showing models brandishing knives.

Following complaints from consumers' groups in February 2007, Dolce & Gabbana pulled an advertisement in Madrid, Spain and Paris, France that showed a man holding a woman to the ground by her wrists while a group of men look on. Spain's Labour and Social Affairs Ministry branded the campaign as illegal and humiliating to women, saying the woman's body position had no relation to the products Dolce & Gabbana were trying to sell. Italian publications followed suit, banning the ad."

The bad news is they don't seem to want to hear from us.  I can't find an address for either snail or e-mail.

I told you so!

maybe we can find some consumer groups to write to.

objectification of women, here's a new one.

If you're going to the Inaugural Bawl, you'll want to register your dress on a website especially created for the purpose of making sure you're not wearing something another woman is.

God forbid someone should be wearing the same thing.

I told you so!

well I will have my furs on

Women need to organize if they're ever going to get fair treatment. They need to stop funding the things that demean them.

against this sort of thing...

And now, we have them so corrupted that they endorse a clear misogynist

SHIT!

Will be posting this to help spread it around...

You can't fight in the corner of a misogynist man and still fight misogyny. Can't be done. All too many women have made that decision. They don't fight against the patriarchy because they are fighting for the patriarchy. They fight for the right to be objectified.

Women's groups like NOW and NARAL are part of the problem not part of the solution. They would rather attack a woman like Sarah Palin because she isn't "liberal" enough for them than confront the fact that they endorsed a misogynist man because he was a Democrat. They are useless and long past their shelf life.

We need new movements led by women like Heidi Li and Lynette Long and other's who care about women's rights not the Democratic Party. IMO, of course.

They do the misogynyst bidding for the misogynysts.

did you see this:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/01/06/world/main4701529.shtml?tag=to...

A lady in Australia has been charged with murder for setting her husband's penis on fire in December, after she saw him hug another woman.  She doused his genitals with alcohol while he was sleeping and then set them on fire.  He jumped up, knocked over the bottle of alcohol and set the entire townhouse aflame.  He died last week from injuries sustained in the fire.

This woman must have attended the Lorena Bobbit School of Marital Relations.

I told you so!

no more hugs from me

for bringing this video to my attention. I, too, had never seen those images.

I'm going to spread it around.
