I read that Androula Henriques is one of the women honored. She has worked for years to end the trafficking of women and has fought against the buying and selling of women. She has created her own anti-trafficking network and raised money to rescue women from the hands of traffickers. She has put her money where her mouth is, even taking victims into her home.
Henriques has a history of being an advocate for the voiceless. It’s right that she should be honored in this way. Hats off to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Melanne Verveer for publicly recognizing her. President Obama raised his voice for the hijib, these women raise their voices against the abuse of women by honoring those who fight the global misogynists.
Let us celebrate women empowerment, let us help ourselves fight for equal rights. For in fact, women can make the same as what men do. They have even less record of job hopping than men has.
Women tend to be loyal employees. The problem with that is some employers take advantage of that characteristic by adding responsibilities and tasks, without tweaking perks like pay.
special on PBS? The previews looked pretty good.
Sounds like she was a natural political talent.
and way advanced for her time. There must have been others like her that never got exposure or were squelched.
