On this day I have to follow Obama's lead

I am so very conflicted about Iran. I want Obama to scream and yell his support for the revolution, yet i don't want him to give the Iranian regime the excuse they want to crack down harder on those people. I think today he gave the Iranians the strongest support he could without outright calling the Islamic Republic Illegit.
This is one of those times when I have no idea what to do. I am personally a lousy negotiator and poor verbal communicator.
When I have no idea what is best I must trust my President and trust in the hope that he is using his Secretary of State in developing the calcualted response today.

What President Obama said today at the presser was appropriate, I thought. I don't know what people expect him to do or say. I don't think the government of Iran particularly cares what he says or does anyway. The election results are going to stand, from what I heard on the news. All we can do is support the protesters in their efforts to effect change in their country. Their government may be crazy, sadistic and hate America, but I think that the Iranian people know that Americans want them to have the same rights and privileges that we have.
He followed in the footsteps of John McCain and echoed his words. As the guy from Fox asked in the presser, "what took you so long?"
The Leader of the Free World should LEAD, dammit!
I can accept that Lead in this instance is the soft variety. McCain IMHO sounded like an ass when I heard him yesterday.

...trying to goad him into some "manly" kneejerk action to set him up for failure? I mean, in essence, they're calling him a girly man for not doing what they proclaim he should be doing. If he were to take their bait, then what a perfect campaign post to hitch their 2012 wagons to if he were to fail (as they know he very likely would), a la Carter's 1980 "Operation Eagle Claw", who was set-up btw, with the tragic and failed hostage rescue.

I think Obama should've been a wee bit stronger, but what he said was acceptable. I just don't know why he didn't say it four or five days ago.
There's no excuse for this, DNC. You screwed the pooch; time to pay the piper.
do not want to fight another war at another front in the Middle East. We have sacrificed many lives and spent tons of money there. What have we gained?
They say we killed the terrorists there rather than on our own soil, that we took the fight to them. There is probably more than a little truth to that argument. However, it did not come cheap. Despite what some think, as a nation we have suffered both financially and emotionally. Too many parents buried their military sons and daughters and way too many service men and women came home with sever emotional and physical disabilities. We are in a recession that can directly be tied to the expense of war.
If Khamenei gets his way, the rest of the world should not recognize his or his government's existence. (If the UN can't muster up the courage than the building should be sold and the money given to NY. They either pony up or they move.) Maps should be made with Iran draped in black in honor of the protesters. Oil companies should be picketted until they no longer buy Iranian oil. (Hello, Brazil!)
I do not know Obama's take on the subject. He afterall told the Middle East that we cannot deny another country nuclear capabilities. Hello? Give this government nuclear capabilities, and you can kiss your fanny goodbye.

Today this Jewish male feels like the women of Iran are my sisters.

Khomenei is done. He knows that, so he has brought in thugs from Hamas and Hezbollah to beat back the crowd and hold the malitia in check. I have read that this move has really provoked Iranians, because they see themselves as Persians not Arabs. (The multiculturalism meme that diminishes nationalistic unity only works in brainwashed countries with large numbers of progressives.)
But I think I agree with all of you. And that's recognizing that all of you are clearly thinking and feeling very different, very complicated, sometimes even conflicting things about this crisis. I am too.
It is a human reaction.
Sometimes the lights all shinin on me;
Other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long, strange trip its been.

got my brown paper bag ready, the one for hyperventilating not barfing, although both may be needed, and voted that I agreed with Obama. This one time.
I really had no choice. Because I believed this was right it would be a lack of integrity not to say so. And then I would have no more integrity that Obama. And I just couldn't live with that.
A Dishonest/Biased Media Is A Crime Against Democracy!
Without our integrity we are nothing and deserve the same.
